What is a REALTOR®

A REALTOR® is a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, their State Association of REALTORS® and a Local Board of REALTORS®.  

REALTOR® is a trademark of the National Association of REALTORS®, the Voice for Real Estate.  Members are licensed to use the logo below in connection with their real estate business and adhere to a strict Code of Ethics, which is based on professionalism and protection of the public. 

A REALTOR® is properly licensed by their state who has then voluntarily sought membership in the REALTOR® Association.  REALTORS® include salespersons, brokers, appraisers, counselors, auctioneers and property managers.

The Greater Providence Board of REALTORS® is the oldest and largest of the five local Boards of REALTORS® here in Rhode Island.  Once properly licensed and affiliated with a member firm, individuals may apply to become a REALTOR® Member.  The REALTOR® Association works on behalf of its members advocating for them and their clients on real property rights while providing professional development opportunities and resources to make our members successful in their real estate careers.
